The Australian government has blacklisted two more terror groups as the country prepares to reopen its borders.
Two new groups have been named as terrorist organisations and will be treated as such under the Criminal Code.
Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said the entirety of Hezbollah and The Base were a threat to Australia’s national security and needed to be treated as such.
The listings will enable the application of terrorist organisation offences to these groups, and bring Australia into line with the stance of the United Kingdom and Canada.
More to come.
