Kathleen Riethmuller’s Gumtree ads disappear weeks after she vanished

There’s been a mysterious twist in the case of a Sydney woman who vanished from the city’s north weeks ago.

A missing Sydney woman’s Gumtree ads have mysteriously disappeared weeks after she vanished from Sydney’s north.

Kathleen Riethmuller, 28, listed some of her belongings for sale in the week before she disappeared.

A Sydney-based Gumtree account set up with her name listed various homewares for sale between October 20 and October 22, worth a total of $410.

The items for sale included a yoga mat, a vintage room divider, a lamp, an easel and a framed mosaic picture.

Police are understood to be looking into why she attempted to sell some of her items before she disappeared.

The advert, however, has since vanished and her profile wiped clean.

Police are still searching for Ms Riethmuller, who was last seen on October 28 in North Sydney.

Her backpack containing her ID, bank cards, money and other personal belongings was found later that day by a member of the public on Centennial Ave, Lane Cove.

Ms Riethmuller was captured on CCTV leaving a Bunnings on Reserve Rd, Artarmon, just before noon on the day she vanished.

She was wearing a long sleeve denim dress and black flat shoes.

Detectives searching for her have said they believe she may have travelled to Melbourne for employment opportunities.

But police and her family hold serious concerns for her welfare given they have not managed to contact her.

Police said Ms Riethmuller often frequented a unit on King St in Sydney and backpackers accommodation on Sir John Young Crescent, Woolloomooloo, where she was believed to have checked in on October 28.

But she never went to her room. Instead she left immediately and was believed to have travelled to North Sydney where she was last seen.

Friends have launched a social media page dedicated to finding her.

It explains Ms Riethmuller’s family is based in Brisbane and was unable to get to Sydney because of restrictions. It is unclear if they have made it across the border.

“It is possible that she is in need of medical assistance … we are hopeful that reaching out as far and wide as possible can assist in getting her home safely,” one of the posts reads.

Ms Riethmuller is described as being of caucasian appearance, between 165cm and 175cm tall, of thin build, with long dark hair.

Anyone who may have information about her whereabouts or has seen her is urged to contact Chatswood police station or Crime Stoppers.

NSW Police have declined to elaborate on the investigation, only stating that “there is no further update and inquiries are continuing”.
