NSW: Quartz stone stolen from Tingha museum



A valuable stone weighing a hefty 80kg has been swiped from an Australian museum, which has been declared a crime scene.

Thieves have stolen a valuable stone valued at $100,000 from a rural museum in northern NSW.

The 80 kg piece of quartz was stolen when an unknown number of people entered a museum in Tingha about 1am on Saturday.

The stone is described as being a dark brown smoky quartz grass stone and valued at an estimated $100,000, NSW Police said.

Police are appealing for information over the brazen robbery.

Officers attached to the New England Police District attended and established a crime scene.
