The Prime Minister has led the outpouring of relief that the four-year-old girl, missing for more than two weeks, has been found.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Australia’s “prayers (have been) answered” with the news four-year-old Cleo Smith had been found “alive and well”.
Mr Morrison, who is on his way home from Europe, tweeted the news was “wonderful, relieving”.
“Cleo Smith has been found and is home safe and sound,” he wrote.
“Our prayers answered. Thank you to the many police officers involved in finding Cleo and supporting her family.”
A Western Australia police team broke into a locked house in Carnarvon, WA about 1am on Wednesday and found the girl, who went missing from a camp site 18 days ago, a room.
She has been reunited with her parents, and a man from Carnarvon was arrested at the home and taken into custody.
More to come.
