Underdale: Man allegedly stabs roommate, sets fire to house

A man has been detained after a wild incident where he allegedly attacked his roommate and set fire to the share house they live in.

A man has allegedly stabbed his roommate in the neck and set their share house alight in a wild incident in Adelaide’s west.

Emergency services were called to the Underdale home along Henley Beach Rd at about 2.30am on Monday after receiving reports that one of the residents used a small knife to stab another resident.

SA Police will allege in court the 32-year-old man poured accelerant throughout the home prior to stabbing his roommate and starting the fire.

Police say the roommate escaped serious injury but was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

MFS crews managed to put out the flames that damaged one of the rooms of the share house.

Police used capsicum spray on the Underdale man to restrain him before he was arrested.

He was charged with a string of offences, including aggravated assault causing harm and arson and is due to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
