Victoria has recorded 827 new locally acquired Covid cases and 19 more deaths.
Victoria has recorded 827 new cases of Covid and 19 deaths in the past 24 hours as the state inches closer its next vaccination target.
There are now 303 infected residents in hospital, with 44 in active intensive care and 23 on a ventilator.
The cases come from 48, 427 tests on Monday bringing the total amount of active cases across Victoria to 9420.
“We thank everyone who got vaccinated and tested yesterday,” the Department of Health wrote on Twitter.
“Our thoughts are with those in hospital, and the families of people who have lost their lives.”
More than 89 per cent of those eligible for vaccines over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated, with 5464 jabs issued on Monday at state-run clinics.
While Victoria is just days away from hitting the 90 per cent vaccination target, the new rules tied to the number were already relaxed late last week.
Victorians woke to the new round of freedoms on Friday, including the scrapping of density limits for hospitality, concerts and events with double-dosed attendees.
Premier Daniel Andrews revealed the host of changes on Thursday, saying “almost all” restrictions have now ended.
“Whether it’s 100,000 people at the MCG or a million people that will go to the tennis, just being able to visit family and friends without caps and limits and rules or stand up and have a beer at the pub,” he told Seven.
