Incredible footage has emerged of the dramatic moment a fugitive jumped the fence of a prison in Western Australia, sparking a manhunt.

Footage has emerged of the moment an inmate escaped from a regional prison in Western Australia.

The video shows Warrick Simon Walkerbear scaling the fence of Broome Regional Prison and then running along a road about 3.30pm.

The 27-year-old, who was barefoot, ran past several vehicles before looking over his shoulder.

He was last seen on Hamersley St in the vicinity of Barker St, heading south towards Haas St in Broome.

He is described as 185cm tall, with a slim build, curly black shoulder length hair and was last seen wearing dark green shorts, a dark green T-shirt and black thongs.

“As with any escapee, Mr Walkerbear may act in an unpredictable manner if approached,” WA Police said.

Anyone who sights him, or has information relating to his whereabouts, should phone police immediately on 131 444 or the Broome police station on 9103 9000.
